Document Country Doesn’t Match Your Citizenship
Upload a document issued by the country you selected as your citizenship — SumSub checks that the document country matches your profile.
How to fix
Open your profile and check the citizenship field. Then upload an identity document issued by that country.
For example, if your citizenship is Ukraine, upload a Ukrainian passport or Ukrainian national ID — not a UK passport, not a Polish residence permit.
If you used the wrong document:
- Go back to the identity upload step
- Upload a document from your country of citizenship
If you have dual citizenship and the listed country is correct:
- Upload the passport or ID of the citizenship listed in your profile
If your citizenship in the profile is wrong:
- You cannot change it yourself — contact support to correct it before re-submitting
Watch out for
- A residence permit or foreign ID card from the country where you live is not a substitute for a document from your country of citizenship
- Expired foreign passports from a second citizenship won’t work — the document must match the citizenship in your profile
- If you’re a refugee or displaced person and no longer have your original country’s documents, contact support before re-submitting
